Enrolment VCE or VCAL? Eligibility Applications Fees & Scholarships Travel
How do I enrol? You will enrol as a student in your current school and will still be based at your current secondary school three days per week to attend classes which cover the VCE or VCAL curriculum. You will also attend the nearest ATCW training site to participate in one full day of training in the industry you are studying. Another full day is spent on-the-job with an employer as part of your Australian School-based Apprenticeship (ASbA). Even though you will enrol through your current school and attend there three days each week, you will first and foremost be considered an Australian Technical College Warrnambool student.
Will I get a VCE or VCAL certificate? Students enrolling in the ATCW will be able to choose whether they achieve the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL). You should consult with your careers teacher and the ATCW Industry Liaison and Support Officers to discuss which is the best option for you. You should also attend the ATCW information sessions. These sessions will be advertised through your careers teacher.
Am I eligible to apply? Only Year 11 and 12 students within the designated ATCW service region can apply for entry into the ATCW. Young people who have left secondary education but wish to re-enter through the ATCW should contact the ATCW to discuss their eligibility.
How and when can I apply? Application forms can be obtained from the careers teacher at the school you are currently attending or by downloading the form from this website. Once we have received your completed application form and any other required information you will be contacted within 10 working days through your current school to arrange an interview with an ATC staff member. ATCW applications close in mid-October each year with student interviews and successful applicants advised by mid-November. Your application will need to be accompanied by a completed ‘school reference and endorsement form’ available from our office or website, a resume and a personal reference from a coach, part-time employer or someone who knows you well. Interviews will take place with ATCW staff and where possible industry representatives.

What are the fees and scholarship details? Your normal school fees apply and you should consult your home school to determine how much these will be. As you will be in an Australian School-based Apprenticeship you will be required to pay RTO (Registered Training Organisation) fees of between $250-$350, depending on the certificate you are enrolled in. Fees must be paid before you commence studying at the ATCW. To secure your place, successful applicants must pay a minimum 50% non-refundable deposit prior to the commencement of the course. The balance of the course fee is due before the commencement of term two. Alternatively the course fee can be paid in installments prior to the start of each term. Payment dates will be advised by the ATCW. Fees paid in advance are held in a Trust account to cover expenses for each training program. Each student will be required to have the approved uniform for their day in the work force as well as an ATCW top. For uniform costs contact our office on 5560 3840. The Australian Technical College Warrnambool offers 15 scholarships each year to students who can demonstrate they require financial assistance in order to enrol. ‘Scholarship Applications’ and eligibility criteria can be obtained from our website and should accompany your ‘ATCW application’ form.
