I’m proud to be associated with the Australian Government’s Australian Technical College initiative. We all understand that there is a trade skills shortage in Australia and it’s heartening to see the Australian Government implementing such an innovative and positive initiative to help address the problem.
I’m pleased to be part of a team of district employers and Brauer and Baimbridge College staff charged with the responsibility of setting up and managing the Australian Technical College Wannon (ATCW).
The ATCW will work with south western Victorian schools, employer groups and other organisations to develop and deliver programs that will provide our district Year 11 and 12 students with high level training that will allow them to take their place in the workforce and subsequently contribute their skills to advantage our local communities, Victoria and Australia.
I believe that the ATCW is developing an energy that will not be stopped, it will become a centre of excellence and it will be seen as an exemplar to other vocational experiences providers.
My message to south western Victorian industrialists and employer groups is; look to how you can put something back into your industry, your district and ultimately your country. Get behind these young people; they are the future leaders of our organisations.
Contact the ATCW group to see how you can be involved in this initiative.
